#4 Exercise

I have been exercising for almost 3 weeks how. It wasn’t a New Year’s resolution; It was a combination of me not being happy with myself (20%), and my wife telling me to shape up (80%).

I have been using a website www.myfitnesspal.com to track my food and exercise habits. I found it by accident while looking for a calorie counter, and it is awesome!

You enter in all your food intake and exercise, and it spits out your calorie and nutrient intake., and estimates your weight in 5 weeks based on what you are doing.

#3 Kids & Movies

My almost 3 year old watches ‘Cars’ single day. Looking back, I don’t think I was ever like that. How can someone watch the exact same show everyday without getting bored?  He knows every Car by name, and every scene.

He used to be like that with ‘The Moody Blues’ too. (That might be my fault.)

What movies do you know every second of?

#2 Gramps

My Grandpa died on December 11. He was 83 1/2. These are some of my memories of Norman Kenneth Jones.

Saying Gordon Bennett when something was outrageous Instead of the F-word.

Getting “heck” for spinning on the kitchen chairs or rolling the brown ottoman around the house.

Calling a cat a Moggie.

Bacon Sandwiches for breakfast.

Helping to mow the lawn by holding the handle half way up the handle. And I never lost any body parts!

All the cool puzzles & water gadgets.

The cuckoo clock. The bird clock. The Time machine clock with the balls. The clock with the white picket fence.

All the model steam engines, ships in bottles, the various rocks and bricks mounted on pieces of wood.

The encyclopedias from 1975.

The fact that his yearbooks from high school feature the exact same hair do that he wore to the day he died.

The birdie that went down the pole when you pulled it back.

Driving around in the backyard in the blue paddle car with Nick.

Never throwing out anything that might be useful.

The home made bird bath and windmill in the backyard.

Certain foods ‘Put hair on Your Chest’

When the doctor asks if it hurts he said, “Only when I breathe’

Watching Square 13, Today’s Special, Paddington Bear, CFCN News, Mr. Rogers, Fred Penner, Mr. Dressup, The Friendly Giant.

Always making sure I had the proper footwear in the shop.

Taking me to the ice rink down the Street In the winter.

Taking me to the same spot in the Summer to ride my bike.

Riding in his old 1959 White car to Safeway. The key didn’t go in the steering column. It went in the bottom of the dash.

When he called after our first child miscarried to say that he didn’t want us to think he didn’t care and that he was sorry for what happened.

And lots more. I love you and I miss you.

#1 Pictures In the Ceiling

I am laying here in a random Edmonton hotel, staring at the ceiling. It’s a typical stipple ceiling. You know, the ones with all the hidden artwork — the Sistine Chapel’s of the stipple world — the faces, buildings, mountains. When I was a kid I always had a spot on my ceiling no matter what room I was sleeping in where there was a man with a long face and a beard, and he was always looking sideways. Even today it takes seconds to find a face. Its like those weird 3D pictures where you have to stare a certain way to see the picture.

What are the pictures in your ceiling?
